During a long journey with his wife, LaBrota’s chief engineer spent a meaningful period in Munich. What stayed with him was not a loud worship of speed, but a quiet engineering order.

環遊世界的途中,LaBrota 的總工程師與他的愛妻曾在慕尼黑停留很長一段時間。那段時間裡,他看到的不是喧鬧的速度崇拜,而是一種很安靜的工程秩序。

Tools had their place. Process had rhythm. Decisions returned first to structure, logic, durability, stability, and long-term use.

Years later, that attitude would become the quiet spine of LaBrota: calm, precise, restrained, and loyal to engineering logic. But why this brand had to exist — that story begins much earlier.

LaBrota is a premium road wheelset brand. But it was not built to chase the lowest number on a scale, nor to create another carbon wheelset with a beautiful specification sheet.

A real road does not ask only how light a wheelset is. It asks whether the front wheel stays calm on a descent, whether the rider can hold the line in crosswind, whether power returns cleanly out of a corner, and whether speed remains under the rider late into fatigue.

真正的道路,不會只問一對輪組有多輕。高速下坡時,前輪能不能穩住;橫風進來時,車手敢不敢繼續壓住路線;出彎重新踩踏時,力量有沒有被乾淨送出去;長距離巡航時,速度能不能留在腳下;疲勞開始堆上來時,這套裝備還能不能被相信。

The market often sells weight. The rider has to face speed, force, crosswind, descent, and fatigue.

LaBrota does not reject lightness. It rejects sacrificing the wheelset’s fundamental bottom line for lightness.

LaBrota’s chief engineer comes from Taiwan. He began cycling in elementary school and, by 2026, had spent nearly forty years inside bicycles.

LaBrota 的總工程師來自台灣。他從國小開始接觸自行車,到今天將近六十歲,仍然沒有離開這件事。截至 2026 年,他已經在自行車相關領域累積約四十年經驗。

He is not a man who only reads numbers. He is not a man who only talks about ride feel from the roadside.

他不是只看參數的人。也不是只站在路邊談騎感的人。

He has ridden. He has coached. He has worked on frames, components, product development, trade shows, finishing and preparation work, supply chains, and a large number of wheelbuilding projects.

他騎過車,帶過選手,做過車架,做過自行車零配件;接觸過產品開發、展會交流、塗裝整備、代工供應鏈,也經手過大量輪組代工項目。

Those years taught him not only how a wheelset is designed, but how it is built, laced, tensioned, checked for runout, checked for roundness, and finally handed to a rider who has to trust it.

這些經驗讓他不只知道一對輪組怎麼設計,也知道它怎麼被做出來,怎麼被編起來,怎麼測張力、測偏擺、測跳動,最後又怎麼被交到車手手上。

He knows that a product can look beautiful at a booth and still fail on real roads. A structure can look valid on paper and still reveal weakness after production, fatigue, and repeated use.

他很清楚:一個產品在展台上看起來漂亮,和它在真實道路上長時間被使用,是兩回事。一個結構在圖紙上看起來成立,和它真正進入量產、被不同車手反覆使用,也是兩回事。

A rider’s real problems are rarely written on a specification sheet.

車手真正遇到的問題,很多時候不會直接寫在規格表上。

Sometimes it is the hesitation before a descent. Sometimes it is the front end becoming nervous in crosswind. Sometimes it is power disappearing when the rider accelerates out of a corner.

有時候是下坡前那一點猶豫。有時候是橫風裡車頭突然變得不安定。有時候是出彎後踩下去,力量像被輪組吃掉。

Sometimes speed rises, but cannot stay. Sometimes the rider can only say: “It is not smooth. It is not stable. I do not dare to let it go.”

有時候是速度明明拉起來了,卻撐不了太久。有時候車手只說一句:「不順。」「不穩。」「不敢放。」

That old coach built his judgement from these real problems, one ride at a time.

這位老教練,就是從這些真實問題裡,一步一步形成自己的判斷。

In the early 1990s, he bought his first carbon road bike. Steel frames and alloy wheels still ruled the road. Carbon was rare enough to make riders stop and look.

1990 年代初,他買下人生第一輛碳纖維公路車。那時候,賽場上還是鋼管車和鋁合金輪組的世界,碳纖維還不像今天這樣普遍。

A carbon road bike entering a team or a race scene felt like another era arriving early. People gathered around it. Some doubted it. Some were amazed. Some felt, for the first time, that road bikes were about to change.

一台碳纖維公路車出現在車隊和比賽現場,本身就像另一個時代突然被推到眼前。有人圍過來看,有人懷疑,有人驚嘆,也有人第一次覺得,公路車真的要變了。

He never forgot that feeling. But the bike was not perfect. The material was new, the idea was advanced, yet ride feel, stiffness, durability, and the complete system were not fully mature.

那種稀奇、驚訝、與眾不同的感覺,他一直記得。但那台車並不完美。材料很新,概念很先進,可是騎感、剛性、耐用性和整體匹配,還沒有真正成熟。

Advanced material does not automatically mean better ride quality. Lighter does not automatically mean faster. Different-looking does not automatically mean right for the rider.

In his thirties, he worked in a finishing and preparation facility. There, he encountered a group of professional-level frames prepared for top European racing.

在他三十多歲時,他曾在塗裝與整備相關工廠擔任管理工作。那段時間裡,他接觸過一批為歐洲頂級賽場準備的職業級車架。

Those frames were not the ordinary lightweight retail versions consumers could buy on the market.

For real high-level racing use, that batch of professional frames had additional reinforcement in key areas. Their actual weight was higher than the same retail model consumers saw in the market.

That struck him deeply. It was not something advertisements shouted about, and it was not something most consumers could easily know.

Equipment prepared for high-level riders does not always chase the lowest weight. It cares more about stiffness, support, stability, endurance, and reliability under high power and complex racing conditions.

From that moment, he understood: premium is not making weight as low as possible. Premium is knowing what must never be removed.

For a long time, he was not only building products. He was developing structures.

As carbon became more mature, it could have made road bikes more complete: steadier, faster, more efficient, and more suited to real roads. Instead, the market slowly moved toward another extreme. More and more people asked only about weight. More and more products talked only about weight.

At first, he tried to explain. He explained to partners that rims were not simply “the lighter the better.” He explained that spoke tension could not be lowered casually, and support could not be casually removed.

What finally broke the silence was not one order. It was the last partner he trusted most.

“Everyone is buying ultralight wheelsets now. They sell too well. I trust your quality, and we have worked together for years. But orders have dropped too much. If you cannot give me a wheelset light enough for the market to accept, we really cannot continue.”

He did not explain for long. He had already explained too many times.

Not because he did not understand business. Not because he did not understand the market. But because that weight had already gone below the line he was willing to hand to a rider.

In my eyes, this old gentleman can be stubborn to the point of being almost unreasonable. But that stubbornness is exactly why I understood why LaBrota had to exist.

He was not building a wheelset because it would sell. He was building one he could dare to hand over.

A correct wheelset is not the one with the loudest number. It is the one a rider can trust when the road becomes fast, exposed, and unforgiving.

LaBrota breaks wheelset performance into three core ideas: Control, Attack, and Cruise.

Many brands, when talking about performance, end up with words that are easy to remember: lighter, stiffer, more aero, more unusual in shape, easier to photograph, easier to compare.

LaBrota does not understand performance that way.

If a design looks exciting but damages tension balance, load continuity, and structural stability, it puts novelty before performance.

LaBrota does not need that kind of novelty.

For the past decade, the wheel industry has spent enormous effort discussing aerodynamics. Wind-tunnel numbers became prettier, tires became more specialized, and rim shapes became more complicated.過去十年,輪組產業花了大量時間討論空氣動力學。風洞數字越來越漂亮,輪胎越來越特殊,輪圈也越來越複雜。

After deflation, the same setup is tested again. The drive side remains stable around 150, while the non-drive side still holds around 120–130. The result is almost unbelievable.放氣後用同一機位復測,驅動側依然穩定在 150 左右,非驅動側依然 120–130,令人瞠目結舌。

Bare-rim lateral runout is approximately ±0.10mm. After the tire is mounted and inflated, lateral runout improves to approximately ±0.05mm.裸圈狀態約 ±0.10mm;裝胎並打入胎壓後,偏擺精度反而達到約 ±0.05mm。

Spoke tension is not about being as high as possible. It is about being exactly where it should be.

The real difficulty is controlling precision and spoke tension after the tire is mounted and inflated — keeping the change within 30 KGF compared with the pre-tire state.

Clearly, the Double. front wheel achieved it. The change is almost zero, delivering a full-mark result.

On the Double. front wheel tested here, after tire installation and inflation, lateral runout reached ±0.05mm — even more precise than the bare-wheel state at ±0.10mm.

It did not simply score 100. It also solved the extra 20-point challenge, delivering a 120-point result beyond full marks.

Of course, under 80 PSI tire pressure, keeping lateral runout within ±0.10mm is already a top-tier standard. Every Double. front wheel will be confirmed within this precision range before release.

張力不是越高越好,而是恰到好處。

真正難做到的是:裝輪胎並打入胎壓之後,精度與張力變化能否控制在低於裝胎前 30 KGF 以內。

很顯然,Double. 前輪做到了,而且交出了一張滿分答卷:它的變化幾乎為 0。

當然,在 80 PSI 胎壓下,偏擺控制在 ±0.10mm 內已然屬於頂尖範疇,我們承諾每一個 Double. 前輪在出廠時都會確保在這個精度內。

During long-distance riding, the front wheel is the first to absorb most of the feedback and vibration from the road.
It is therefore tuned with balanced comfort and performance as the priority.
However, the Double. front wheel supports a higher-tension build, with an extremely high ceiling.
Of course, higher tension means sacrificing a certain amount of road feel and comfort.
If you feel the spoke tension is not high enough and need a higher-tension build, it can absolutely be done.
Simply explain it to your advisor.

The front wheel is the first part of Double. to meet turbulence and side gusts. Allocation Terms準入確認條款

Once full payment is completed, the order is treated as a confirmed custom allocation. After configuration and production begin, cancellation or refund is not accepted except for quality or delivery issues. 全款完成後,即視為確認專屬定制。訂單進入配置與生產流程後,除品質或交付問題外,不接受取消或退款。
